I was eating something last week and cracked my back tooth, well 3rd from the back. Pretty much half the tooth is gone. There's no pain at all so do I do anything about it or just leave it. It's a little rough maybe it could be smoothed out?

You're hardly going to smooth it out yourself. Could you bring forward your next dental checkup?

Please don't just leave it. I did that and I lost the tooth. Once it's broken it's very succeptible to decay, and then you'll end up like me and loose your tooth. Go in now and you'll save yourself a world of pain (eventually) and money.

Sometimes teeth that break are already heavily decayed.

Common sense would say go to a dentist if half your tooth broke off.
