Today i notice 3 damp patches on ceiling, went up in loft experting to see a leaking pipe, directly over wet damp patch's on ceiling the loft insulation is wet looked up and under each damp patch is roof vent, these were put in 3 yrs ago when the loft was re insulated, never leaked before but this is the first snow we had since it was done , which tells me snow is getting in then thawing out causing the damp patches on ceiling, surely this shouldn't happen, anyone got any experience of this.

Well by their nature roof vents will likely let in if there is heavy snow fall - i.e. the vent tile becomes completely covered by snow and either snow or melt water comes back in through the vent.
The problem gets exasperated by your newly insulated roof.... since there is no escaping heat to melt the snow before it comes up to the vent holes.

I'd put it down to experience and be mindful of it the next time there is a flurry of snow - which doesn't happen often thank god.

Rang the company who installed vents, girl on phone said we wasn't the first to ring in with same problem, this particular vents are now going to be replaced, so installer came round Thursday to inspect and said this shouldn't happen and will replace vents and get someone in to paint the ceilings, properly just means paint patch though, not entire ceiling in 3 rooms, but happy enough something is going to be done.
