SO, mrs echo is looking to buy a new(ish) car

Seeing as diesel is on the way out, we'll probably avoid that.
Looking for something that is a mommy mobile, but not a mommy mobile, if you get me.

She'll be doing small mileage, but will require room for the smallies, plenty of poke and comfort.
not ruling out an awd, but was thinking of a petrol/electric.. something like an Mitsubishi Outlander.. any other options.. X4, X3 etc

going to avoid a complete diesel, but a hybrid may be acceptable .

    any ideas ??

    Might even push to €35k

    Circa 200bhp.
    Room for babies.
    Lots of toys
    Really good sound system
    Climate control
Android connect (or whatever it's called)
    Heated seats
    Something sporty
And be a motorway mile munched.

    Ideas. .??

A beaut of a car. If I won the lotto tomorrow you can be sure there would be a Lexus on my driveway.

I think you should go look at a brand new 5008 or the smaller 3008 depending on how many kids you have. Don't discount it until you've looked at it, the 1.2 petrol would also be perfect for her small miles.
You not a million miles off the price of an xc40 either if your budget is 35.

Tried them all when looking for something recently, went with an xc90 in the end but the 5008 was option one for a while.

An XC40 is quite expensive do. Its not that spacious either and not really anything special in side. A big disappointment really. Its very boring inside. I like Volvo and want them to be doing well but the XC4o is nothing special really.

@OP You would get a lot more for your money and a bigger more spacious car too if you look at a Kia Sportage or a Hyundai Tucson. They both have a lot more kit than the Volvo too as well as very good warranties on them.

I thought the xc40 was lovely inside especially the vents and the big touchscreen

I think there confusing something when they pimp a kia sportage over one. XC40,60,90 are all pretty similar dash wise.

    .

OP said something around 200hp so the 1.2 5008 would be a good bit off anywhere near that. They are one of the nicer crossovers/SUV on the market though.

OP, you will find it nigh on impossible to get a 200hp petrol suv in this country. Diesel rules the roost. You may need to drop your expectations regarding power a good bit unfortunately.

I had hyundai i30 1.4 petrol..from 2008 till 2014.. best car ever.. payed once for car and went to service(oil check and 1 big service) every year and not a single problem! I would never sold that car if I didn`t decide to move to Ireland for good! Market value was only bad thing at 2014 as it was sold real cheap if you compare it to other same class cars. :(

I am in contact with new owner and he didn`t changed a single thing on car.. today car is 10years old and still like first day..

There's a 190bhp Ateca available but it's a bit more than 35k. There's a 150bhp one too and on paper at least the performance looks decent.
