Is the Dublin Bus Real Time Info working for you / on your route? Not working for me at all - don't fancy standing at a bus-stop for an hour wondering will bus ever come?

It's switched off because of the weather.

Because of the weather? Surely, it's equally important now?

It's hard to predict when a bus will arrive at one stop to the next because the journey times are much longer and the average speed much lower, plus the added complication that some bus stops are being missed out.

Thanks I do understand that but I thought (maybe I'm completely wrong) that the prediction was made on the basis of the speed that the bus was travelling at i.e. when the bus is stuck in a traffic jam, the timer reflects that ... I had imagined that the speed from A to B could have been used to predict the speed from J to K and X to y and then updated as necessary.

was wondering the same thing myself - is RTPI an all or nothing system, in that they can't selectively switch off the displays or data for specific individual bus stops? or it is just a stupid amount of work to manually enter and track the stops as they re-enter use?

Are stops being missed out? How would one know if a stop is omitted one would have to wait for a bus put their hand and the bus not to stop for one to know surely.

You'd have an idea from your own post of DB's route info on the snow thread...

Eg 65b to Citywest via Tallaght Bypass will miss a lot of stops that are on it's normal route

Ok I wasn't sure what was meant I was talking about stops that are on route not talking about diversions or early terminations.

Will that be for expressway services too?

Read the thread title. We're talking about DB here not BE.

From DB's latest release it seems that the RTPI will not be working tomorrow morning until a full service has resumed across all routes. Tomorrow morning is going to be a disaster trying to get into town methinks!

I know say that myself it contradicts what they have said on Twitter. It's ok not to have RTPI on Sunday when usage is fairly low but on a weekday ridiculous. Only a minority of routes will not have full service tommorrow anyway I can't see the likes of the 44b operating it's full route to Glencullen and some estates will remain inaccessible but it'll be a minority of routes effected.

i'll give you that it's not ideal, but not having RTPI is an inconvenience rather than being ridiculous. it won't affect how regular buses run.
people were able to use public transport for many decades without it.

Real time was in my opinion one of the most significant improvements to DB services in recent years before it DB was almost unbearable to use especially on routes where the service is infrequent anyway it basically means no more standing at a bus stop for an hour plus not knowing if a bus is going to come or not.
