Can someone tell me is there a legal requirement for the amount of construction signage you are to have on site of a build?
For example I know for health and safety there should be a warning sign on the fencing that construction is taking place but does everything need a sign like does there the first aid box is kept need a sign on the door. does the toilet need a sign. does there need to be a sign put up when scaffolding is erected etc.

My father is. I'm trying to find out more for him. He hasn't managed a build before.

Well one could argue that he is not qualified to act as PSCS. Be mindful that it’s a criminal offence that carries a custodial sentence with H&S nowadays.

It’s not something that people should be having a go with as they have some free time.

He's experienced in the Construction industry. It's just health and safety plan he wouldn't be familiar with compiling. How do the other people on this site do direct labour without a contractor when they haven't managed a build before in that case. There seems to be plenty of posts I've read with people who's family who are in the Construction industry but not contractors are the pscp for their project. Honest question.

Either their contract acts as PSCS or the supervising professional is engaged.
If something happens, there is 3 things a judge will look at in court, experience, qualification and competency.

The health, safety and welfare at work act (construction sites) can be a mine field for the inexperienced and that’s coming from people that have near 20 years experience in engineering, surveying and building control histories.

I know I wouldn’t put my name to it currently.

OP - there are specialists (who are not particularly expensive) who will guide your father through the process of acting as PSCS or who will act in that role for him.

It is not just a matter of whacking up a few coloured signs and throwing on a high visibility vest.

For example: Do you know the particular risks that are present on your site? Do you know what a particular risk is?

Pay for a professional. It's worth it.

Thanks we have decided to pay professional. We've no issue paying for it. I just didn't know it was an option till I learned it here. It's a learning process so grateful for advice.
