Hi, pipes supplying water into house are frozen today so we have no mains water pressure, ie taps are not running. I am wondering is it safe to use our backboiler stove?

I am pretty sure it is a closed system, if I recall we had to install a coil into water cylinder and two heat leak radiators, because there was no room to install tank in attic. Does that sound right?

If it does not require a water supply other than what is in the pipes is it safe to light? Electricity is on so pump will work.

    Thanks!

PS - I stand corrected, just checked and there is some sort of small tank in the attic, so I am not sure if it is open or closed

IF you are sure you have no leaks and don't boil it, it should be ok to use. Keep an eye on that small tank to be sure there is some water in it. If you bleed a lot of air from rads you will need to top it up with a jug or similar.

You will be running it outside the design parameters, so all the above is very important.
