Some of my silage was well wilted and is very dry and the cattle are not inclined to eat it once the bale is opened ie when I open the bale the cattle will eat it no problem but that evening when I shake it up , they will no longer eat it.

The silage is perfect and I'M just wondering if there was anything I could throw on it to make them eat it. Would molasses work and is molasses expensive?

Are you sure they are not just full, there is a lot more dry matter in a dry bale. just leave them to finish it.

The longer the housing period goes on the pickier animals get. Just leave them too it and they will eat it. They are just being stubborn hoping they'll get something fresher.

Are you not feeding meal? Mineral powder for cows?

As above, cattle that are well used to getting their fill get very picky and seem to know well that a fresh bale is on the cards.

Try feeding them less in case they are too full. Have noticed that if the bales can go off if too dry
