I am spray painting a plywood board using 3 colours. I made a pigs ear of the red section.....it crackled badly. I sanded down the worst of it then resprayed ..it still came out not great. In hindsight i should have primed the affected area before respraying it. My question is this.....do i sand down the affected area again, work with the primer and respray. Or do i have to sand down the whole red area section, then prime and respray.

It's not a big area, Just sand it back down and start again. After Sanding clean down with white spirits to remove all dust. Then prime and Spray.
