Employment contract - Notice period

Interested to know peoples thoughts on this.

I am starting a new role and it states in the contract that I am required to provide 1 months notice of intention to leave in writing.

    However, it says that
In the event of such a termination by the Company, you will receive notice as per the terms and obligations of the company as set out in the Minimum Notice and Terms of Employment Acts 1973 to 2005.

As far as I can see the act mentioned above only only provides me with 1 weeks notice up until 2 years employment in the company.

Is this fair that I must give them 1 months notice of the intention of leaving verses them giving me only 1 weeks notice? Anyone encountered this before?
