My da is 86, he appointed my Aunt as his executor of his will many years ago. She unfortunately passed away a year ago. I don't want to have to talk to him about wills at this stage in his life. Does anyone know what happens in this case. is it a big ordeal when this happens. If it is and the court have to get involved I will talk to him about naming a new executor, if its just a matter of someone ie. solicitor taking over that's fine. Hope someone can help? Thanks

If there are other executors it will be left up to them. Otherwise the High Court will appoint an administrator. Your best bet would really be to change it.

It will be more (much more) cost effective to execute a new will or execute a codicil (Will supplement) now, rather than leave it as is, and require a High Court application when the time comes.
