I didn't even think it was still open anymore.

I know that there were a few re-namings etc....

Didn't Ballinascorney rebrand to Dublin City Golf Club, then close & re-open as a Footgolf Course?

I think I heard rumour of a number of Ballinascorney members branching off & forming a new club, but not having a course, so they were a club who used a different golf course?

I may have my stories crossed here.

I know a fair few people living up Templeogue/Terenure direction are members of clubs out the Naas Road direction such as Grange Castle/Castlewarden/City West/Beech Park

If you're just looking to squeeze in casual golf, the 7-hole course in Grange Castle might suit your needs, think its €10 for 7-holes, €15 for 14.

Generally quiet as you're not competing with course members for slots

That's interesting, according to their website their still active http://ballinascorneygolfclub.com/

Although the course is actually no where near Ballinascorney, according to google maps its across the road from Kilmashogue GC, (another club I never heard off)!! I might tip up there this Saturday just to suss it out...ha

Also never new Grange had a 7 hole course, will definitely check that out. Thanks for the tip.

Don't confuse Grange Castle in Clondalkin with Grange Golf Club in rathfarnham

I played it last week. Place was in great condition. It's an easy enough course as they come.

Yep, the old Ballinascorney is up near Bohernabreena & was an 18-hole course. Didn't realise that they had opened up a separate 9-hole down the road

Ballinascorney GC is where a lot of people first took up the gamE. It was a vibrant club (as it is now) when it was actually in Ballinascorney winning a number Inter club pennants during the late eighties and nineties. The owners wanted a modest rise in the annual subscription, it got voted down by the members so the club were given a years notice to quit. Pretty daft decision at the time IMO, loved the course. Wednesdays up there were packed for their semi opens. My pals and i called it the Scald. Best course in Tallaght in its day.
