So I want to order a dress from an u.s website but i don’t really want to risk with the shipping and taxes and all. But I wanted to try addresspal or parcel motel and was wondering if these two charge any custom duties or vat or tax charges on u.s deliveries to Ireland? And if they’re any good on delievery overall and how long is the estimated delivery time. But mostly I was wondering if the price of the delivery through addresspal or parcel motel includes the charges for us deliveries

Since both options are for getting items from the US which won't ship to Ireland there will be taxes due. The cost of the service dosen't include taxes so when you pick up the item you will be charged the tax due and their processing fee which is around €15.

The only way to minimise the risk of getting caught for tax is to use normal post and hope that customs don't spot it. If you use a courier, express postage or address pal you will get charged tax and processing fees

Addresspal open every package and inspect it. 100% Hit rate for VAT + €10 handling fee.

PM dont check VAT, thats up to HMRC who have a hit rate of well below 10%. Problem is PM may reject it if you get unlucky.

VAT is due either way, but yeah, *cough*.

    From Revenue:

    If your goods have:

a customs value (including cost, transport, insurance and handling charges) of €22 or less you do not have to pay Customs Duty or VAT

a customs value of more than €22 you will have to pay VAT

an intrinsic value (the value of the goods alone excluding transport, insurance and handling charges) of more than €150 you will have to pay Customs Duty.

These limits are for the whole delivery, not just one item. You must pay the above duties where applicable, and VAT on alcohol or tobacco products, perfumes or toilet waters, regardless of their value.

If the VAT payable is €6 or less it will not be collected.

The vendor does not put a value for customs as it is a domestic shipment - unless the carrier offers insurance. Their postal service does not without an extra charge, I do not know about the rest.

Address Pal will open the parcel to inspect the contents are acceptable for air transport, and to find the invoice to fill out the description and value on the customs form and reseal.

*****If there is NO invoice with the goods, they will email you and ask for a description and value****. And how cool is that?

(it could still be flagged on arrival, especially if an item known to be revenue generators like laptops... but this has never happened to me yet)

The OP has not been back on Boards since the day after their one and only post back in February and I suspect will not see any of the advice being offered. Anyway the thread is in the wrong forum.

    Sorry

No need to apologise - I'm not a Mod, just making a point. :)
