    Hi folks,

Looking for a half decent laptop

Budget - approx 800 euro give or take a few quid.
Intended use - Internet browsing, streaming, high quality video, decent bit of gaming with decent FPS on medium to high settings on fairly recent games (not worried about FPS on ultra high settings, not for my budget anyway!)
Mobility - Not too bothered about this, it'll spend most of its life in the house moved from room to room occasionally.

Looking at both of these laptops and cant decide which one is best.

    Medion P6681 15.6 Inch i5 8GB 1TB GTX1050 - http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/7245569/c_1/1%7Ccategory_root%7COffice%2C+PCs+and+phones%7C14418968/c_2/3%7Ccat_50000560%7CLaptops%7C50000564.htm

    Acer Aspire 7 15.6 Inch i5 8GB 1TB 128GB GTX1050 Laptop - http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/7495137/c_1/1%7Ccategory_root%7COffice%252C%2BPCs%2Band%2Bphones%7C14418968/c_2/3%7Ccat_50000560%7CLaptops%7C50000564.htm

I narrowed it down to these because the Graphics card Nvidia GTX1050 is pretty capable, they both have 1080p screens and decent processors for the money. I like the dvd player on the Medion but it doesn't have an additional ssd drive for fast boot up not does it have a backlit keyboard were the Acer does. Yet the Acer lacks a dvd player and has a 2gb GTX1050 compared to the Medion's 4gb graphics card.

Which would is better than the other? Which has the best bang for buck? Are Medion a decent make of laptop? They both seem to have decent enough reviews.

    Thanks,

    Fonecrusher

    :)

The processor in the Acer is a significant step up. The Acer has a quad core 7th generation i5 processor, whereas the Medion is dual.

I'd prefer Acer as a brand over Medion to be honest. And I just don't get the need for DVD drives in this day and age. It's a waste of space and weight. Given the Acer has the better processor, an SSD as well as HDD and the same graphics card I think it's a no brainer...

    Thanks.

Yeah fair point. Too much stacking up in favor of the Acer. It also has USB - C and a superior screen based on my research. Also if I need to I can get a cheap external DVD drive/writer.

There's not enough swaying me toward the Medion and I am seeing some quite negative opinions on they're overall quality.

Processor in the Medion is way slower and would severely handicap you in CPU heavy games.

The only thing the Medion has in its favor is double the vram but the Acer is a way, way superior all rounder, for games or otherwise.
