Aeotec (z-wave) integration

    Hi there

I have an existing alarm (was in the house when we bought it) but was getting a lot of false alarms when using it and the monitoring wasnt working

Had the original installer out and even though I got a 3 sim card for the panel he couldn't get it working although my mobile is on 3 network and works fine and there is an external antenna on the panel. He want me to replace the control panel for 600 quid but I was heading in to some refurb work so didn't want to commit at the time.

I had also asked him to do a couple of other small bit of maintenance (ie map the zones etc ) and aside from the lemon sucking face at each request (electrical engineer by training so have some nous in the area but well aware of my limits) I feel he fleeced me so my feeling is he had is chance and I dont want to give him a shot now that I am looking to do a new system.

Ideally I want a self monitored app, I live in the country with good neighbours and and we watch each others places so I dont want paid monitoring so prepared to pay a slight premium on the install so not to tie myself into a monitoring contract.

Anyway the nub of my question is I have put in new windows and dont want to stick a bulky wireless sensor on them and was looking around and came across these from aeotec and wondered if anyone had experience of integrating to a mainstream system (eg HKC). Not sure about the whole z wave piece and I would like to retain the hard wired external bell etc. Th wiring to the key pad is still in place I just haven't re installed it after painting.

Has anybody used the aeotec products or integrated z-wave with a conventional system recently.

    Thanks in advance
