How much do Irish dealers save over the equivalent Uk prices

Hi, I know the UK market is alot more stack them high and sell them cheap on tight margins. Looking at 2016 a4 s lines; and note that they are about £2000 to £3000 more in northern ireland than the UK. Do Irish dealers who import regular cars like the a4 go to main dealers and pay the price we all see on autotrader or how much less would they save? I'm trying to work out am I better asking my local Seat dealer to buy my trade in and for me to go direct and get a straight deal on a car; or get an Irish independent dealer to take my SEAT (offer lower trade in than Seat dealer) but who would have better buying power through auctions not open to public

£19,998 seems to be cheapest 2016 s lines; should I randomly ring a dealer and say I used to work in the auto industry and whats the best industry price you'll do?

I know a local dealer who says he's happy if he can make 1k off each car he brings back from the UK.

Suppose it depends on the car. Friend bought a 2014 A7 privately from the UK. After VRT it was still 3k cheaper than an Irish equivalent and much better spec.

Most dealers buy through auctions or trade sales in the UK, not off other dealers. Usually the cars are about £1000 cheaper than Autotrader or the likes.

If you try to tell a porkies that you used to work in the industry then I think they will cop pretty smartly and possibly hang up on you.

Give it a go and let us know how you got on.

Main dealers in the UK don't really want to deal with main dealers over here Audi won't sell to dealers or garages here, a mate of mine bought a 2016 A6 in the UK and the first question they asked him was he in the trade

Not a porkie as I worked in a head office for a manufacturer. I just was surprised that so much of the imports all come through auctions; guess the scalle and volume of uk auctions is so vast
