Hi I have a b6 passat , when idle it is vibrating very bad. It shook the oil lid cover off . I'm wondering can it be anything else apart from flywheel or engine mounts ?

    Petrol or diesel?

Has it lost any power or is there any warning lights on?

    It's 1.9 diesel.
Still has full power with no lights on dash

Is the car revving high? Rpm?
Id hazard a guess at the engine motor mounts or dual mass flywheel
I think these suffered with camshaft wear with incorrect oil used or not regularly enough
Also a injector gone could cause this problem

No it's reving sound so it must be either flywheel, injectors or mounts?

I'd have to see it Ye
Could be the camshaft like I said
The pd engines are very particular of what oil is used
Is there any judders in clutch? Hard changing gears?
I'd keep checking forums,a garage could change several parts and still not fix the problem

It's missing in cylinder three so there's an injector problem and there is a judder from the clutch but that's from the flywheel it's not great

Could well be either so that's causing the vibration, them flywheels been out of whack Atal would cause big vibration, injector s cause vibration from my own experience,I do know the older tdi pds suffered with a failing injector wiring loom, their emersed in hot engine oil and fail.did u bring it to mechanic?

I didn't bring it to one because I'd prefer to do it myself , I was just seeing did anyone have advise from previous experience

Has the timing belt been done recently?
Could the timing be out slightly
    Everything online suggests
Mounts,Flywheel or clutch,Injectors, injector wiring loom or camshaft wear

    Heres a quick video

In comments he says the flywheel was shot

My vw passat was vibrating very bad so I plugged it in and it said that cylinder 3 was missing. Does that mean that the only real problem can be the injector or what else could it be?

Hi Conor, please don't start multiple threads on the same issue. Just keep this one updated. I've joined your old threads together.

Hopefully 'just' injector loom, locate it and check all connections and spray with contact/switch cleaner wait a few min's until cleaner evaporates then click connections back into place tight and secure.
    Good Luck.
If alls good remember this may only be a temporary fix and you may need a new loom soon!?

i taugt that myself,i know the connections sometimes cause a injector to act up
easy to try anyway and costs nothing
