    Hi,

As title says, can employer send you home if you don't buy BLACK footwear from your own money?

They're gonna try and make me pay towards uniforms aswell.

Of course they can - if it’s in your contract to wear black shoes/runners etc that’s the way it is.

Same if your work wear should be smart casual - if you go in wearing beach shorts you can be sent home

Check your contract of employment. However it's not normal for an employer to expect you to pay for your own uniform but there are exceptions.

If its in your contract, then yes. The good news is you keep the receipts and put a tax rebate claim at end of year.

The vast majority of uniformed positions require you to buy your own uniform - from trademens (safety footwear, goggles etc) to nurses and airline staff.

A uniform and safety gear are totally different. You do not have to pay for 'safety equipment'.
