So i went in for the 15 euro clean in December. Total waste of time basic cleaning and a checkup. I paid 15 and i assume goverment gives another 60. At the end was told come back in jan get prsi again and pay another 100 and will do a good job. Just had teeth cleaned and a root treatment in dental hospital in lithuania. My wife had a descaling 1 filling and a soda spray clean at the end . My 17 yr old son had same. I had chip fixed off front tooth a root treatment and cleaning. In total paid 320 for all if us in a dental hospital hospital. Everyone had english there.

Under PRSI, you are covered for a "basic" check up, a scale & polish is €15, (that is a "basic" clean), a cleaning of pockets under gum is Clinic private fee - €42 contribution from government, (that is the one they advised you to return for, it is more comprehensive) you can only avail of this once per calendar year, so if you needed two visits, you could have one in December and another in January under the PRSI scheme. Are you unhappy with this?

Treatments in the dental hospitals in Dublin and Cork cost less than in private Clinics, I don't think anyone will be surprised to hear that you were charged even less in a dental hospital in Lithuania. When comparing service costs, you should always consider the job you do yourself, ask yourself if you could do your job here for the same wage being paid to a person doing the same job in Lithuania. It's easy enough to check, post your profession.

There's no point trying to compare Lithuania and Ireland. You do realise that the average wage there is less than 200 per week? You get that much on the dole here.

That's my point. Minimum monthly wage in Lithuania is €400, in Ireland it's over €1600. Comparing service costs in different countries is a fools errand, saying dental treatment costs less in a dental hospital in Lithuania is like saying a mechanic costs less in Lithuania.
