Hi i can't figure this out so maybe ye could help.

I work 2 days a week 12/14 hours a week. My partner has good job but we are struggling with two kids mortgage etc...

Would i be able to sign on for the days i dont work or is it only if my hours are reduced?

Were your days reduced from 5/4 to 2? Was this your desicion or your employers? How long had you been working before that?
Or did you just find a job 2 days per week after being not in employment ?
Are you looking for and available for full time work?
    Have you looked into FIS?
    Lots of permutations !

I had been working full time until i fell pregnant with my second son 2 years ago. My employer sold the business while i was on mat leave. I then went to work in a different place 2 days per week and have been there for almost a year and a half. There is nothing full time there at the moment and i have not been able to find anything else. My hours havnt been reduced so thats where i am unsure if i will be able to recieve any of my stamps for the other days not working.
With regards to FIS, my partner (not married) has a good job but it is a squeeze money wise at the moment with mortgage and problems we have found in the house that need to be fixed plumbing etc.

Ok. You if you had 39 weeks credits and contributions in 2016 (13 of those must be contributions) then you could try applying for JSB but as it is 2 years since you “suffered a loss of employment” then that may be a problem for you.
You can ask then to be processed for JSA but it’s means tested so your partners payslips will be needed and you might get nothing (mortgage house needs work etc isn’t taken into account at all I’m afraid).
Another problem is that you must be “looking for and available for full time work” and they’re applying that very rigorously at the moment so you’ll be busy attending the job activation programmes on your days off.
The FIS limit for 2 kids will be €622 (net) from March. The least you will get is €20.

I will try that thank you. Do you know how much is the limit on means test? I would live to take full time employment but am finding it very hard to find anything as I have no qualifications so even a course would be fantastic.

You wouldn’t have any entitlement to either JSA or FIS with those figures I’m afraid.
