    To Bangkok

Probably not going to take it but would save me money if it's actually comfortable...but 12 hours on a ferry sounds maddening..

The bus is also terrible and still involves some ferry.

Will be ferrying to Surat Thani anyway, no flights left for my dates from Ko Samui to Bangkok

Bangkok to chang mai is excellent but you'd need to book in advance. That's the only one I know about

I've the overnight train and it was great, did the Chiang Mai one aswell which was the same. Tbh OP boat to Surat Thani and Air Asia to Bangkok is dirt cheap but will take a few hours. The Samui Bangkok flight is so expensive compared to every other option. If costs are a big consideration the overnight train would be a happy medium

Get the ferry / flight combo, you will regret any other modes of transport!
