Yet another example of "Anytime" not being anytime

    10+ years later...

    Stuff still does not work.
Again, it feels like we live in the previous century.

Why should we have to endure stuff such as the "Anytime internet Banking" feature NOT being available during certain hours?? It certainly does defeat the purpose for youngsters to head right? (which is probably a short stop along the road anyway).

You do know that they have to be taken offline occasionally for maintenance/data backup etc?

Yes, i do know that... I design highly available systems.
All the way back to around 2001 (and prior) when i was tasked with designing the networking infrastructure for the LUAS line in a highly available scenario.

My point in this case is false advertising.
If you advertise something as "Anytime" it should be anytime (without any caveats).

It's on their website. [image to be added].
People are now mobile and move to and live in other countries. Let alone local people, something advertised as "Anytime" should be applicable to customers anywhere they may be.

If you cannot do so, then simply remove wording such as "Anytime".
The average Irish person (at the very least) can be located anywhere at any point in time and expect an "Anytime" service if it is advertised.
Perhaps another option in terms of wording may be:
"Anytime during Irish time (except between 01:00- 06:00) when we do our maintenance/backups."

Have you used a service such as Revolut at all?
No matter where you are in the world (that they support) you receive instant confirmation of transaction. Perhaps there is a delay but not that i have experienced as yet.

If they can do it globally, then surely these lax banking providers in IE would have / should have improved their game.

I can. But it's not going to matter. It's just my way of complaining.

[it's the After Hours thread after all]

It just shocks me that after ~20 years Irish banks still persist in using the same unchanged mechanisms.

It's not just Irish banks. A US bank ran a (brief) advertising campaign involving radio ads which ended with the cheery invocation "Call now! Our lines are open 24/7, Monday to Friday, 9 to 5!"

Don't panic the you tube clip guy will be here any minute now.

don't you mean - anytime now??

Another mis-use of the word anytime was by F-14 squadrons who gratitutously used the slogan "Anytime, baby" in respect of their readiness

Unfortunately, despite what Top Gun might lead you to believe, the F-14 was anything but an anytime aircraft and was a nightmare to maintain and notorious for being a hangar queen :D
