Rang AVIVA insurance today - They sent me renewal to old address for 350 euro for Car Insurance.
I rang and they said oh because we are over x amount of days you now need a new business quote and are quoting me 530 euro because my wife since has 3 penalty points (1 fine)
So basically its 180 euro more expensive for 3 penalty points.
Its a big scam. sorry modorator was told not to post on old thread so started new one. Hope thats ok

Well, new business rates are rarely the same as renewal rates so it was always going to be different if you let your renewal go. Aviva give,,I think, a 27% discount for having no points so if you add points then it goes up really quickly. Lastly Aviva geocode so changing address has big effect on your premium.

Shop around see if anyone else will quote cheaper. If you go to the insurance forum they have a whole list. Some companies don't care if you only have one set of points so will like be better.

Why is it big scam? Your wife got 3 penalty points, presumably for not driving correctly. Would that not mean that she presents a certain element of increased risk to her insurer? Am I missing something?

And also did you not inform Aviva of your change of address?
