Kormoran tyres

Hi, I bought Kormoran tyres about 8 month ago and done about 13000km on them. The front tyres are nearly worn down to the marker already, seems very quick to be having to replace front tyres.

Is this normal or is it a case that this is because they are a budget tyre.

When replacing if i got a branded tyre, would this make a considerable difference?

    Thanks

Yea i got the alignment done when replacing the front two.

Although it must be said that they could not adjust it bang on due to an issue with one of the nuts being seized for adjusting the rear left wheel. Nevertheless it was still within the limits.

After 13000km alignment might need doing again. What kind of car is it. Kormoran would be a budget tyre but are tied in with Michelin from what I can remember.
They wouldn't be a tyre I'd be expecting big mileage from. Had to get a good budget brand that will give you decent grip and wear.

Some of those ceeds are a nightmare to adjust to be fair to the lad that done it. You could try changing the eccentric bolts on the rear but no guarantee it would solve the camber issue.

Are they the 205/55/16 or 225/45/17

I'm out of the trade awhile but last I remember the Kormoran were around €75ish could be wrong.. I'd prefer to spend a little more on the likes of the firestone think they were €85 but like I said I'm out of the loop on pricing. Your dealing with good lads from what iv heard. Seem to be one of the best in that side of the country.

Are the tyres unevenly worn? If they are evenly worn across the entire thread then it sounds like there is nothing wrong with the car and the issue is with the particular type of tyre wearing quickly.

How many thousand kms did the previous fronts last for?
Is driving style or the tyre the main factor here?
What thread depth is left on them now, "nearly worn down to the marker" isn't really quantitative :)

13k kms is woeful IMO to go from new to close to 1.6mm.

Pervious to getting the alignment done the alignment was woefully off, so back tyres have uneven wear. The back tyres are kormoran too and have being in the about 2 years now.

Front tyres are about 1mm over the marker and have even wear across the tyre.

They will do me another couple of months and ill replace them.

Kormoran are a budget tyre but in all fairness to them they have decent grip.

They're just a fast wearing tyre.

There's also an issue of tread depth on new tyre.

Some tyres come with 8mm tread.
Some with 7.5mm and I've seen some with as low as 7mm.

But to my biggest surprise Riken Maystorm 2 B2 I had a while back, came origianlly with only 6mm tread.
Them Riken's being Michelin's budget brand might be possibly similar to Kormorans which are also Michelin's budget brand, so I wonder if Kormorans maybe also come with only 6mm tread when new.

I remember those Rikens only lasted me few months (about 6k km for front ones) while most brands last me about 10-15k km (front ones).

When you think about it, 6mm down to 2mm is only 4mm, while 8mm down to 2mm is 6mm.

So tyres that originally come with only 6mm tread, are going to last only 2/3 (66%) of 8mm tyres.

Am I right in thinking that Kormoran also come only with 6mm tread?
I haven't used them since 90's but then was before they were taken over by Michelin, so they were completely different tyres.
