Got two letters for an appointment for both services

    Can/do you do both together?

    They're the same thing.

    Seetac delivers jobpath.

One letter is probably telling you you're on jobpath. The second letter is from Seetac.

They're both from DOSP for different day's and I don't like ringing the dole.

Unless I go first one, bring letter and ask about second

    That would be an idea.

You'll probably find both meetings cover different things.

They’re not on the same day so just go to both.

I'd advise reading up on them. Lots of negative posts on boards.

I got carried away on a bit of a rant there but long story short, they're a shower of chancers who just want to get their commision when you get a job and have no intention of helping you find one. I've had better employment support from the springboard course I'm on.

If you find a job yourself, destroy the SIM card of the number you gave them and delete the correspondence email address to. Don't communicate with them again, you may get all sorts of threatening letters, do not respond to them and best of luck

    Threatening what? legal action?

probably not, but ive heard of people receiving threatening letters from this organisation in the form of social welfare cuts etc. i actually know turas nua refused to accept a doctors cert from a person and continued to use threatening language of social welfare cuts if they did not comply with the continuation of their program.

Wanderer, what's the point of spouting nonsense? You said the op will continue to receive threatening letters if he finds a job.. and then your example of such threats is a letter threatening a cut to social welfare?

To your modern left wing handwringer TN/Seetec is like daybreak to a vampire.
The suggestion that able bodied adults in a “Jobseekers” payment be pressured into taking up paid employment instead has resulted in all kinds of hysteria, this is only a very mild example.

One example from my last spell with Seetec

Convergys seemed to be flavour of the month, "suggested" I go for it
    Call centre shift work
I explained about being a diabetic and needing a routine with eating etc, generally its better for it
Didn't want to know and kept pushing
Went and got letter from Doctor explaining this and eventually, they got the message

Also, I said I have no experience or any desire to have experience in call centre work and offered them three sectors I would gladly work in.

But as I said it was flavour of the month and they were trying to their best to send people there en mass

Please re-read my quote that you highlighted, I would also highly recommend talking to those that have had the 'pleasure' of dealing with these organisations. This is how not to deal with unemployment issues. Yes, again, I have heard stories that some have continued to receive harassing and threatening contact, including phone calls and letters even when these individuals have gained employment by themselves, hence why I recommend those that have been sent to these organisations to destroy their Sims and delete email addresses afterwards, in fact I recommend a different phone/sim and email address, and only use those for contact during the jopath process, and discard afterwards.

That rings a bell, were Convergys based in Swords? They asked me to apply there too. If I recall the money being offered was terrible too.

So while you pick and choose which employment you want ... should social welfare remain at the same level?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,931 ✭✭✭jeffk

How you mean pick and choose? Surely better to go into a job/sector you'll be good at and hopefully stay in

Have you ever been through the effort/stress of signing of and back on?

No .. I’ve been fortunate to always been working ... had some really ****ty jobs .. but my priority was to be employed regardless and pay my own way ... as they say it’s eaier to get work when you are in work .. but then again everyone is different I suppose

Went in today and much as expected

Today's appointment was cancelled, someone was to ring to tell me and they didn't, sure we will do it now and save you coming in monday

ANOTHER CV, even though the ex manager of the office did my current one

“Suggested†then told to go into jobs fare next friday in dublin castle

On about must have voicemail setup, if they call and you don't get it or a voicemail and in turn miss anything it's a black mark and the dole be told

3 appointments made between now and April 2Nd
    Interview technique I did already
Job applications I can and do do at home multiple times a day
    Box ticking meeting/checkup

Told them about excel spreadsheet I use from last time there, emailed them it, ignored it and asked would I apply for a position I did last night then said about an excel spreadsheet you have to handwrite applications on

The real eye-opener, applying for some grant of 10k you can give as a bribe/golden handshake to “small companies†to take you on

Oh and as I left converys popped up on some tablet for information/jobs on reception

Jeff would you not just take a job, any job, just to get yourself off the conveyer belt of JobPath?
You can always look for something suits you better in your spare time?

Believe me, I am trying,18 applications since Jan 2nd, in Admin or Warehouse as that's what I want to do

I don't want part-time as still have to do seetec

I don't want to apply for any position within reason, as if that goes on Cv then could be stuck with that work

That's pretty much the advice any recruiter worth their salt would give you as it would further distance you from where you want to be.

Saw Convergys were recruiting again, as I mentioned before Seetec were asking me to apply to them this time last year or there abouts. I did ... twice and heard nothing back. Struck me then that if they were actually in touch with convergys and offering them access to potential staff they would have passed my details on and secured me an interview and not left me to apply myself, likely just heard they were recruiting and told me and others to apply.

What I done was told them that I do not have a phone or that I am unable to use a computer.. they asked me how could anyone contact me with a job offer so I told them I had a functional letter box! So when I returned to work I signed off online at mygov website and never heard another word from them.

Sorry if Im hijacking this thread but iv a question about these companies.
The 1 Im with wants a copy of all the jobs Iv applied for, I said no problem Il bring in the list next time. But this has me thinking - are they gona check up on me, contact the companies to confirm that I have? This is obviously against data +privacy laws or it is allowed under the agreement I signed?
I heard companies can get money for employing unemployed people, so maybe jobpath/seetec would urge sum1 to hire me? A job is a job but I hate to be sum sort of charity case especially in my local area (people knowing my business etc)

I know the last time I was with them they made/gave me an excel spreadsheet to fill in and send to then every so often

I kept it after I finished, handy to keep track or crush your confidence as the applications fill up and the follow-up columns remain empty

Had an appointment on the 2nd of March this month during the big blizzard and got a text the day before that all appointments were cancelled, haven't heard a peep from them since. Best to wait until they get back in touch with me?

    Hi there,
    Just wondering if someone could help me with my current JobPath situation;

I received a letter from Seetec about JobPath, and as I've heard quite a bit of negative press about them I'm eager to avoid going. I also don't think they will be able to help me find a position which I am qualified for/looking for. I have a BSc, I did a springboard course last year, and then did another programme which is classed as specific skills training (severe skill shortages in the country for this role, which is why I was still entitled to my jobseekers allowance while i was doing the programme) now I am looking for work in this area and highly doubt that JobPath will be able to find me a position in this field.
Long story short, I need my jobseekers allowance to get by while I am looking for work. However, I have been told that if I don't attend JobPath my payments will be reduced or cut off, is this true?

You're probably better off just going along to save yourself the hassle, to be honest. I'm in a similar position to yourself and while you're right about them not being great at finding the kind of work you're after, they don't just try to shove you into any job to get rid of you either - it's in their best interests to see you at a job you're going to be capable of and stick with at the end of the day.

That said, they don't have any power to cut off payments themselves, they'll just send you back to the department and you'll have to plead your case to them. Either way it'll be a bit of a pain so you're probably as well just going along with it.

Don't worry too much about the horror stories either, it's a tedious load of nonsense but not everyone working for them is a gob****e - any I've had to deal with have been perfectly nice people, they've just been unable to help me.

Same experience here with TN/Seetec as well. They've surprisingly been sound enough despite the horror stories I've been reading online; my PA has actually been honest with me to mention that most jobs advertised to them are "entry level" (I take it to mean blue collar jobs). With that being said, unfortunately they've been unable to help me find work related to my degree thus far. Most of the interviews and side jobs I've gotten was through my own effort. However, their training and workshops have actually been helpful in my progress towards the goal of getting employed.

The bully boys are back in force again and all because i took on a job that did not workout and that is solely my fault(complained was left to do menial task and said no wonder im behind on training, told ive a bad attitude on let go on the 4th day)

Being told now i better get a job, any job, lates, weekend you name it or else

So i said ask employers why they don't reply to my applications(using seetec CV template and methods) or why it's ok to judge someone after 4 days, usual threat about doesnt look good with dole

Sick of the harassing and bullying campaign they're allowed inflict on people. Paid to seek work, apply for work, then told no might not be good enough

I'd say sign off, they'd be delighted with one less number on live register

    Or

Some guidance and support from Seetec in getting and staying in a long term position

Likely be a mix of both and end up in some retail job stacking shelfs

fck me ive been around few government funded institutions now for couple years doing free labor, picked up some good skills from springboard and some nice experience, currently on TUS but wastage i see every day , facility has 5 people employed full wages entitlements etc, then you have another 5 people who do same for nothing by these schemes, so much snobbery and competition makes me sick, theres actual jobs thrown for couple hours for people do do menial tasks which otherwise would be proper jobs and you still get unhappy replies  .
Anyway there's two things ive learned either milk the system to the fullest extent, or part ways and seriously take any random job that will take you and make that 2--e a week, i know some will say plenty of jobs but outside Dublin in reality its f all stacking shelves is about as good as it can get.

I am piggybacking off this to ask ask if anyone else has an idea how long the 3 appointments last please ? Back to work gateway, interview skills then review with PEA. Also they said you have to do 1.5 hours job searching in their centre as part of PPP - has anyone else heard of this ?
