I see my area is due to go live late 2018 for ftth but I was in touch with eir and they told me the line I used to have in the house has improved. It was a 3mb line and I used to get around 1.5mb now they say I can get ngb as the exchange has being upgraded to fibre. I'm 4.5 mile from the exchange. Up to 8mb and should get 5mb.
What do ye think is it just sales talk.

What that means is before it was subtended.

You - 5Mb DSL line - Exchange - Radio Link - Main Exchange
    Has become
You - 5Mb DSL line - Exchange - Core network

Dropping that radio link means instead of the whole town sharing 120Mb between them (or in some cases 10Mb) the exchange is fed by 1000Mb or 10,000Mb so the chokepoint is your own line.

Wont be mindblowing, should be a bit better.

The risk is locking yourself into contract if there's only a few months to radical change.

    Dsl noise is 6.5/18.

    Line length is 4 mile.

Still better that that three.ie nonsense.

Nope - but it means eir is your only choice of FTTH provider until you get out of the (now extended) contract.
