Hi there, I have a MF 390T that is giving a bit of trouble. When working around the yard at low revs all is ok. When driving on the public road at higher revs it jerks from time to time and seems to lose power for a moment. This could happen twice in a couple of minutes or it might not happen for hours at a time. Its really annoying as I am worried it could leave me down on the road. Any help or ideas would be great. Thanks.

Sounds like dirt in the fuel line or tank

When were the fuel filters changed last?

Yeah sounds like a fuel problem all right.

Thanks for the advice, I put a litre of diptane into the diesel tank. I am hoping that it might flush out any dirt or blockages.

Change the filters anyway. I doubt dipthene will do much for your problem.

Sounds like filters or lift pump, can squeeze enough at light work but not able to supply enough at higher demand.
    Change filters to start with.

On a slightly related topic, neighbors here bought a new to them jd a few years back, would work mighty for an hour or a week and then out of no where die. Tried everything but nothing fixed it. Turned out a platic milk carton lid had fallen into tank, and when it would cover the flow pipe it would cause the engine to die. Took them months and many mechanics to figure it out

Open screw on top of lift pump and clean gauze (if its same pump as 390) change filters.
