    Hi,
For a family of 5, what is the best/cheapest accommodation to get in Bavaria?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

You could try this site https://www.snowtrex.ie/ which if you use the AI or HB options means the cost can stay reasonable

Thanks. But I meant it is for a summer holiday, 2 weeks in July.

Went there last summer for 2 weeks.Stayed in family run B&B's and guesthouses.Found them great.Booked them off booking.com and hotels.com.
Just booked one two days before we left then made it up as we went along.

Hired a car which made it made it a lot easier.Flew into Memmingen and took it from there.
    Stunning scenery,will defo go back.

we stayed with these lads a few years back and they are very reasonable.

Its just by the Austrian border with plenty to do and see. You'd probably want a car but could survive without one if you had to as its on a main rail line (place 10 min walk from station, or 1 min taxi) and theres local busses that potter about too which are relatively frequent.

I would recommend not exclusively using sites like Booking.com and Hotels.com for booking hotels in Germany. Frequently hotels will show as booked out on Booking.com when in fact they have plenty of availability. It is often cheaper to book direct with the hotel also.

On my last holiday to Germany I booked four hotels, three direct by email and one on Booking.com (no price difference). The first hotel was not on Booking.com at all and the other two were unavailable for those dates. I found them all on TripAdvisor.

I can recommend this area: https://tourismus.nuernberg.de/en/discover/region/day-trips/franconian-lake-district/

There's a lot to do and it's very good value for money.
