Sun strip legality for nct help

    what is the deal with sunstrips for the nct how low can i go before i fails the test i was hoping to get at 20-25 inch tinted strip for the windscreen but im worried ill have to take if off for the test any help or response woukd be hugely helpful thanks

    Look at your windscreen it has a line marked which you can't go past.

    NCT manual https://www.ncts.ie/media/1004/nct-manual-july-2014.pdf page 23 just says "4 Objects or stickers in drivers direct line of vision" which is open to interpretation but as long as you're not taking the pee it should be ok.

    Some people say "not into the wiper area", I think this is wrong though

    I had a 6 inch sun strip on my civic years ago, never had an issue.

    Whether it changed since then I don’t know.

    12 inches is 30 cm
    25 inches you said in OP is 63cm
    Average height for a windscreen is 40 inches/100 cm
    Are you saying inches but mean cm?


    I think this 6/7 inches - about half of what you're saying

    yeah i think 8-9 will probably do it 6 is a bit shallow

    If the mark on the windscreen is not present they use the visors as a guide.
    If the strip goes below the visors it's a fail.
    Got a fair grilling off a garda about it before.
