Dogs tail bleeding

Hi. I came down this morning to let my dog (boxer/rotty cross) out for his morning run in the garden but there was a lot of blood splattered around and after looking him over I noticed the very tip of his tail was bleeding. He doesn't have a docked tail if that makes a difference.

Is this anything to worry about? I won't be able to get him to a vet until later in the week. Is there anything I can put on it to help healing? He is the type of dog that if I try to bandage it his curiousity will have it off again in 5 minutes.

    Thanks
    Mark

He must have banged/caught it in the night.
Is it badly cut? If just a little nick - sometimes these cuts bleed like mad, giving the impression of a blood bath - I would clean it with some cooled boiled water.
I would be vigilant though, if its not clearing up quickly, I would def take him to the vet. Tails are tricky business - constant wagging/banging on things, could cause a problem with healing then all sorts of issues can ensue.

When hes relaxing this evening, give him a frozen kong or some treat that will last a while, and while distracted, put some ointment (sudocrem or aloe vera etc) on to help too, then if he goes at the cream you can distract him too.

It looks to be just a small nick. Thanks for the tips, I'll try this evening to put some sudocrem on while he is distracted.

Quick update. The tail bled once more and then it seemed to clear up. I continued putting sudocrem on but the small nick looks to have cleared up nicely and other than him constantly trying to lick it from my finger all has been good since.
