Energy center cold caller

I had a cold caller from the Energy Center in Duleek who offered a "free, no obligation" survey on my home.

As I have been thinking of changing from oil to gas, I signed up.

The rep arrived and was very professional and gave me the full sales pitch, and to be fair, there was no hard sell.

He did offer me a package with 3 zones, new power shower, larger immersion tank, new boiler etc. The whole lot, with their 20% discount and government grant came in at just under €6,500.

Again, to be fair, he did say that there are dearer deals to be had as well as cheaper deals. But he guaranteed their work (1 day in and out) and their after sales service.

As I hadn't priced anything, I actually thought this was a pretty good price and am thinking of going with the deal.

But first, I wanted to ask a few things.

    1. Has anybody dealt with the Energy Center and if so how did you find them?

    2. Any opinions on this price for a 4 bedroom house with approx 15 rads currently burning 2 full tanks of oil a year.

    3. Any recommendations for other companies to request quotes from?

    TIA

What make / model Oil Boiler did they say they would fit?
Was power flushing the system mentioned?
    Was a Magnetic filter included?
Is the installation to OFTEC standards?
Was commissioning of the boiler included?
Is the old boiler being removed and disposed of correctly included?

Get at least two more quotes like for like from SEAI approved plumbers then you will know if it's a good deal or not. Also, one day on and out seems ambitious. Best of luck with it.

Thanks. From reading about them online, one day seems to be their big selling point. They claim to have big installation teams doing 40 installations a week.

Hi. I obviously didn't know the right questions to ask. Lol.
What I can tell you is that the immersion will be upgraded to 200l. System will be flushed. High efficiency condensing boiler will be fitted. New power shower fitted. Carbon monoxide alarm, time clock for immersion, cylinder thermostat, central heating protector all fitted along with 5 year guarantee and a BER certificate.
Nothing mentioned about removing the old boiler but I know now to ask, thanks to you.
