Translink to rename Belfast Central "Lanyon Place" from September 2018

    Belfast Central Station is to get a makeover and will be renamed "Lanyon Place" from September, Translink has revealed.

    The transport operator said the name change is to reflect the transformation of the station's surrounding area into a major hub of activity.

    The station is also set for a facelift, with the frontage to be replaced and enhancements made to the ticketing area, retail offerings as well as the installation of a new bike dock. ...

    You can just imagine a tourist who wants to go to Belfast, is simply going to know that there is no station now with Belfast in the name and instead they're just going to have to type or look for Lanyon Place instead.

    They didn't really think about this did they?

    I would imagine it'll be Belfast Lanyon Place on search just like the named stations in Dublin have Dublin in front of them

    Well technically Irish Rail are inconsistent on intercity routes, now that's a surprise!

    No. It was to have run to GVS but it was moved to Central. Politicians interfering had nothing to do with it :pac:

    They are planning on moving it once GVS is re-developed with work due to commence this year.
