Might be a stupid question we have a gas meter box and I am using € 30 + weekly and mainly only have the heating on at night time as my sons room is the box room and is the coldest and the odd time during the day if it is really cold but not much ..would turning the bar in the hot press to only heat the radiators and not the water rather than both save on the gas meter? We have a electric shower and the hot water is not needed but when the heating comes on it’s heating both water and radiators so just wondering if anyone knows if I would save money by turning the bar ?

Depending on your cylinder and pipework insulation, you could save 10 or 20% by not heating water that you don’t need. Note that if you need hot water, it is most likely that gas would be cheaper than electricity for heating it.
