08 Mondeo indicators fault

    Any ideas appreciated

It must be an electrical short i would imagine

When i indicate right then take the turn - indicator stick automatically clicks back to centre and then right indicator comes back on by itself even though stick is in middle.

also when i activate central locking - a few minutes later the right front and rear lights come on even though the switch is in off position. and when i start car the right indicator comes on by itself even though the stick is in central position.

    TIA

Sounds like an issue I had with my 08 Mondeo. I got a s/h stalk from the UK and it solved my problem. Very simple install. Lots of info on the net

Before you spend any money, remove the stalk and clean the contacts, that fixed mine... Same problem you have now... Hadn't happened since.

Not yet. The issue is intermittent and not happening the last day or 2. It’s due a service so will ask mechanic to look at it. Thanks

Don't do what I did and leave it.... Ended up with a flat battery twice.

The stalk is dead easy to remove... Only 4 screws

    Too late lol

that happened last week. first thought it was the fob battery and then realized it was the main car battery - completely flat

no problem ill just jump it - didn't work

youtube to the rescue - no answers there

google search - new board 800euro or new battery all sorts of expensive solutions

keep searching and discover that when the battery dies - the immobilizer activates and needs to be reprogrammed in a ford garage.

further investigation on google i found that if you completely disconnect the battery for 24 hours, everything resets. so i took out battery and borrowed a drip feed battery recharger.

next day hooked everything back up and it started first time, no mechanic or money spent.

    happy days

I have this issue now too.

Will this set allow me to reach the screws?

Any screwdriver of the right size will reach... Just Google "remove mk4 mondeo indicator stalk" to see how to do it.
