    Hi

I am looking at the chemical formula for Met-enkephalin also known as Runners-high and when I google for an image of this there seems to be two variations (see attached). One includes CH3 and the other does not.

Can anybody please tell me why this is so?

    Thanks in advance.

    Are you getting the tattoo?

If so then the methyl group will make little difference (as even organic chemists wouldn't know it by heart) although others report anandamide as being responsible. It's more linear and easier to use...

But to answer your question, the structures are the same as a straight line with nothing attached is shorthand for CH3.
