    Hi folks,
Looking for in indicative price for a plumber to fit a new system gas boiler. No other plumbing required. Also a power flush. I will purchase the boiler / flue separately.
    Thanks,
    Mick

In Limerick if that matters, assuming a 3/4 bed average semi, supplied & fitted, €2200 - €2500

Can you still buy gas boilers without an rgi?

I assumed I could source a gas boiler from a supplier and get an rgi certified plumber to fit?

Would I be way off thinking about 500 for a flush and 300 to fit boiler?

Probably work out cheaper to let the plumber get it. He’d get the vat back to cover his time in the suppliers. He doesn’t know where the boiler came from so probably wouldn’t want to touch it. For all he knows he’s going to spend hours calling back to fix a broken boiler you bought on a market. Suppliers I use has signs up saying only rgi can buy boiler parts there. If he was looking to make a certain amount from fitting the boiler he would just add on the extra he’d make from getting the boiler to the labour. Roughly 1800 to 3000 depending on what I’ve heard. Make sure they are listed on the site.

Main Gas boiler and boiler parts suppliers will only sell to Registered Gas Installers.
As a Gas Installer myself, I have turned down this type of scenario and would not fit a Gas Boiler unless I had sourced it myself. If I buy it and fit it then I (and the manufacturer) are responsible for it.

A little off topic. Gas hobs can only be installed /replaced by rgi. I heard of a case recently where gas hob bought in power city was installed by non rgi. It needed replacing under warranty after a month or so. Manifacture wouldn't even look at the faulty hobs till a gas cert was provided. They even questioned why the cert date was after the date that the fault was reported. It was tough & go as to whether they were going to stand over the warranty.

As I said off topic but thought I'd throw it out there anyway
