BTEA Question

    Hi All,

Following up from a similar thread on back to education allowance, I've recently been given notice of redundancy with my last day on March 2nd with 10 months service, Although I have tried several times to get alternative work in my field, I haven't been able to find an alternative.

I've decided I may look into returning to full time education, as i never studied at 3rd level, and as I would not be able to afford it myself, I have been looking at alternative funding,

My question is, If I start signing on immediately after redundancy, I won't have the necessary 9 months on JA/JB should I be accepted into a course starting in September. I see on citizeninformation.ie that f you have been awarded statutory redundancy and are entitled to a qualifying social welfare payment immediately before you start the course, you can get immediate access to BTEA without any waiting period. Does that apply to people who only have 2 years service, received a redundancy payment? OR is there any other exemptions which would apply to me?

    Thanks
