Considering skipping annual service

My 151 Leaf is due a service around April which will be its 3rd birthday hence the 3yr element of the warranty is now finished. It has a FSH to this point.

As I understand it that means the only warranty remaining is the 5yr warranty.

What exactly does the 5yr warranty cover? Is it just the battery or is it all the drivetrain (charger, inverter, battery etc)?

As the title of the thread suggests, if its just the battery that is left in warranty Im more than happy to skip the service as Im happy the battery isn't going to die on me. Its at 95% SOH at this stage. If its a whole load of other stuff I'd reconsider.

So, if I stop servicing it at the Nissan dealer what exactly am I risking at this point?

Get it serviced before the warranty is up.
Anything that's faulty and covered under the 3 year warranty gets covered.

    My 141
Was out of warranty last year and also due it’s annual service in March.
For the sake of €100 I was gona keep it up but I do know I’m only
Buying a piece of paper as Last years was the pollen filter and coolant/brake fluid.

    Don’t know what to do.
Anyone got a list of what gets done at each interval?

It's already serviced up to its 3yr anniversary date so that's why I'm asking.

My only reason to get it serviced is to maintain warranty. I can "service" it myself! ;)

So the question is, is the warranty on years 4 and 5 worth it if the battery itself isn't a worry?

Service it yourself and keep a record of receipts. future buyers want the confidence that you've looked after the car. That doesn't necessarily have to mean a dealer service.

Same here. I used to service all my old cars and still do her E60.

    +1
Buy the parts and put the resceipts in the service folder. Fill in the service book with date and mileage and sign it yourself.

I have a folder for all my cars and I put everything into it. It then goes with the car when I sell it.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

I used to service all my cars myself religiously every 6k miles or 1 year whichever was sooner. What's to service on an EV though? Nothing really to service apart from inspecting, isn't there?

A full $tealer service can go a long way towards out of warranty clemency though. Isn't that how you got a $$$ job done on your BMW diesel for free, kceire?

The 5 year warranty covers all of the EV components up to 100k (or 150k [160k?] in case of the 30 kWh car). Personally I would let Nissan to service it until then.

    That's my thinking alright.
My BMW's would have had partial BMW, partial independent service history, but all documented which I guess helped.

I've gotten goodwill from BMW 3 times across 3 different cars at this stage :)

The day of servicing the car yourself are gone, unless you expect to keep the car until it is worth small money and then flog it

If you plan to keep any value you need to keep the service up. I done the eGolf yesterday, no more needed it than the man on the moon but got it done, 160 quid as they changed some oils(UK import so they didn't know if done before BS).

Next service is 75k km, that would be probably 3 years time but I will still get it checked over and stamped next year and each year I keep it

    The text I found is
    3-YEAR/60,000 MILES FOR STANDARD COMPONENTS

5-YEAR /60,000 MILES WARRANTY ON ALL EV DEDICATED COMPONENTS ON 24KWH BATTERY

5-YEAR/60,000 MILES FOR HIGH VOLTAGE COMPONENTS

So, I guess its worth keeping the warranty up by getting it serviced at Nissan. Any failed EV dedicated or HV components would be in the thousands to repair.

And to be fair to my local dealer they have looked after me on the warranty side already under the 3yr warranty and I didn't even buy off them so I think I'll suck it up. I might need them on side at a later date!
