So I've been having awful problems with the xbox when it comes to playing anything online. It's connected using ipv4 and I've tried to setup ipv6 through the router settings but it doesn't seem to have worked. Can someone walk me through how to setup ipv6 on my f1000 eir router. My xbox is connected using wireless.

I have no idea why you'd do that.

It's the only thing I can think of that would fix all my issues on the xbox because I had zero issues on my old xb1 and have never had ano issue when I game on pc. I dunno if it'll help but I've tried every other solution on the Internet to fix it

So you've had an Xbox One before, and used it on your current connection with no issues? And pc gaming is working fine on the same connection?

Could the problem lie with the new Xbox One you got so, that seems to be the only thing that has changed.

Is it connected by WiFi or ethernet? If WiFi, can you try ethernet to rule out WiFi problems. If is still persists, would you be able to test it on another internet connection, to determine whether it's your console or your internet service?

I really can't remember if it was the same router but I was still with eircom at that time. It was like 3+ years ago, whatever year the xb1 first came out that's when I got it and sold it close to a year later. It's connected using WiFi and to that ethernet question yes I could temporarily move the xbox to check. The reason I suspected the Internet side being the problem was because sometimes I would check and it would be the standard 50ish ping and other times it would be 330+.. also at times it says the Nat is unavailable or strict so what I've been doing is doing the multiplayer connection test and pressing both bumpers and triggers at the end cus apparently it resets the Nat... there's times I'd have no problems for even 2 or 3 hours then all of a sudden all the players would start lagging about the place, but that's a rare case, I usually get 30 minutes on average before it starts acting up.. my pc has been getting fixed since just before Christmas so there is a chance, although slight, that a problem with the Internet has just happened over Christmas.. the reason I was asking about ipv6 was because I assumed that Microsoft wouldn't tell u to try go ipv4/ipv6 unless it was better for connection.. anyways enough blabbering, I'll try the ether net tomorrow, but any other suggestions would be much appreciated.. oh, and just to let you know the xbox is like no more than 10-15 feet from the router and I've nearly always got a 100% connection strength.

Its NOT IPv6. Nobody actually uses it. Its this nice idea thats been around but unused for 20yrs.

Its NOT NAT. NAT doesnt cause lag. It just wont work if NAT is the issue.

Your neighbour got a wifi booster or your sister got a wireless radio or dad got a cordless phone or whatever for Christmas. Boom, wifi issues.

Cable it, when that works go buy Powerline adapters.

Nat restricts who u can play with and it even says on the xbox forums that it can and does cause connecgion problems ie lag...I can't speak for all games but I can speak for cod, battlefront, forza and fifa cus that's what I've been playing... anyways more importantly can u explain how to fix the "can't find teredo ip" problem.. the xbox website is full of jibberish the solutions haven't worked for me cus I can't find the "allow teredo tunneling" or something like that it tells u go enable in ur router settings.

    Are you for real ?

IPv4 is depleted. The last prefix was handed out in Europe in September 2012 (thats over 5 years ago). There is no more to be got for providers since then, unless you're a new provider and all you get then is 1024 IPs. That's it.

Apple reports that over 60% of the traffic on their servers is now IPv6.

Virgin has to share IPv4 addresses between customers using carrier grade NAT (typically 4 customers per 1 IP), because they don't have enough IPv4 addresses.

Airwire has been handing out IPv6 addresses to end customers since 2008. Both Virgin and Eir now do native IPv6 by default on their current router platform.

All the big services are fully IPv6 enabled: Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Facebook, Netflix, Yahoo, etc etc etc etc.

The big limitation until about 1-2 years ago has been, that the residential routers didn't do IPv6, so the addresses didn't get handed out to the end customers in that case.

Telling people, it's a neat idea that nobody uses it, is complete and utter nonsense.

    /M

I'm afraid, I've never had a F1000 in my hands, so very little help there.

I'm actually unsure, if it has that facility, seeing as that's only the v1.0 firmware from ZyXEL, that Eir ever rolled out.

Try check with people in this thread: https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057302483

If the unlocking the router will fix that. That's the best suggestion I can make.

It's has an ipv6 setup page for LAN but when I enable it the xbox is still connected through ipv4, tho the first time it did connect with ipv6 but for some reason only for like 5 minutes.. there's a load of jibberish on the setyp page with options for aloada stateless and state full stuff that I've no idea what it means, and I'm not sure what to put in the ipv6 ip address if anything atall.. thanks for the suggestion I'll have a look on the forum

As I said .. it's the very first version of the firmware. It may as well have been buggy as hell. Eircom never updated them or paid for newer firmware releases.

The only approach is really to unlock the router and reflash with ZyXEL firmware.

You may even see an improvement in speed then.

Oh I have to unlock it I see. Would you care to be a gem and link me to somewhere that explains how to do this or explain it yourself? :D
