Cost of gas

Hi there, I moved into our first home at the end of last year and there is a pre pay electric ireland gas meter which is a pain in itself. Nonetheless I suppose it has meant that I can keep a closer eye on running costs. We have the thermostat set to 17oC and hot water is gas also. Found that keeping it on all day where it clicks on and off itself doesn't seem to change the cost. We're getting through 4 euro a day, 120 a month during winter. Strikes me a bit odd as when I top up 50 which doesn't even last me a fortnight, they say it's rare for people to add 50 and normally it's only 10 or 20. Are people just topping up every 2 to 5 days or am I getting through more than your average? Hot water system looks a bit odd to me with a 1 to 6 plastic adjuster like you get off a rad, off a pipe in the press with a bit of wire, no doubt to monitor the temp and boiler looks quite old and I'd say hasn't been serviced for some time. Electricity for everything els. Any comments greatful received. Thanks

I'd say thats fairly average, it costs me roughly €5 a day for similar, and I wouldn't be a heavy user

Pre pay electricity is more expensive. Perhaps its the same with gas...
