Mario laughingstock interviewing DOC (I like doc btw) but this is just a taste of how bad TV3 coverage she will be for 6 nations.
I hate saying this but bring back the Ryleeee Nugent and rte.

I’d rather swallow razor blades than listen to Ryle Nugent.

This is a light hearted magazine show anyway so nyeh

It's a chat show, you could compare it to Second Captains but not to match coverage. I'm no fan of TV3 but using this show to moan about TV3's 6N coverage before you've even seen it is ridiculous.

They did a similar thing before last world cup and it was a precursor to awful coverage. My post was tongue in cheek, but I'm not looking forward to tv3, 10 seconds of analysis, cut to ads.Ah I'm just grumpy this evening

I always choose BBC over rte too. No ads, pundits and commentators who actually played the game, and best if all no George phook. I even watch Ireland England games on it, it's well enough balanced !

Don't see that changing coz its now tv3. They still have ads :(

If Bill McLaren's voice didn't stir your emotions at the start of a 6N (then 5N) you didn't have a pulse.

Yeah, I’m not sure how you got from watching sports on BBC to the country being in a jock.... I’d warrant if that was the case there’d be deeper rooted reasons for that...

Most Irish media productions are just awful. Anyone decent in the trade goes overseas. Why? Because the media outlets in Ireland don’t put their budgets in the right place. We’ll never have a good quality production here unfortunately.

The tv3 ad for the six nations was one of the worst I’ve ever seen. I’ve seen way better projects done at college level. That “art” filter is just an out of the box tool, and the choice of a led zeppelin track was completely unimaginative.

Eddie Butler, Brian Moore and Jonathon Davies do their best to challenge that statement! but this just underlines how painful the like of George Hook etc are to listen to.

Last year BBC had POC on their coverage, who was excellent.

I think POC is on BBC this time too but BBC have only 1 live Ireland game (vs France) as others are all on ITV.

From memory: poc, Woodie, Phil danaher have all done stints in BBC. Even a panel full of English ukip would be more balanced than hook

Am I right in saying Hook hadn't been even on the panel in the last 2 years anyways??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,278 ✭✭✭kenmc

No idea, see previous posts :) besides he's only pre-mid and post match. The real issue is the "commentators" who clearly have no idea of the laws nor the referee signs, and proudly announce scrum turnover to one team while the ref is clearly indicating penalty to the other.

Yeah the no ads is a big advantage of bbc. Have to say I find BBC analysis at times bland to say the least particularly guscott. It's all so politically correct like match of the day with everyone afraid of offending.Have no idea what tv3 will be like but I always found rte coverage to be excellent and was disappointed they lost the coverage.

Conor O'Shea in particular, I always found very insightful.

BBC are the pick of the bunch but it’s very tiresome listening to Davies every year. Hopefully the Scots soften his cough.

Always worth it to watch Inverdale try to hold it together when England lose

First five minutes was awful in fairness. It's mildly entertaining to have on in the background.

Yeah. Mario said at start weather meant too hazardous for guests/audience to get to the studio

Ah that makes much more sense. I didn't see the start but it was weirdly all over the shop with interviews cut in half.
