Advice on shower pump connections

We have a 2bar twin impeller negative head shower pump feeding one shower. It is in our attic. We are having a problem where cold water is pumping fine but the hot water isn't pumping. We've checked the filter basket and run through the air lock procedure.
We just noticed that our installer connected the pump in such a way that the hot water is connected to the end with the larger pressure vessel which actually has a label stating connect to cold water. The cold water is connected to the end with the smaller vessel.
I know this probably isn't the cause of my problem but is it ok to connect the wrong way round? There must be a reason for saying 'connect to cold water'?
The shower and pump had been running okish for two years but not great pressure.
    Any ideas appreciated thanks.

It sounds like it's a Grundfos pump, if it is, then it may be the pressure switche as they can be quite problematic on those pumps.
Vessels wrong way around not a huge problem and not the cause of your problem.
