NCT- what should I do?

Hi all, this is half rant to be honest, but am genuinely looking for advice.

I had my NCT on the 4th of January; the car failed for a broken coil spring, and for corrosion on the chassis VIN number. At the time I was told that I had til 03/02/18 to book a retest for the coil spring, but that I had 90 days to get the form filled out from the Gardai for the VIN. I got the coil repaired and got the retest on the 22/01/18, and was told that I actually had to get the form for the VIN before the 03/2/18 too. I have been trying to frantically get this sorted but had to book into a garage to get an ecu print out (?) for the guards, and then I have to to get the form filled out, but the local garda station don't do it, i have to go to another town because there's only one man who does these forms in the whole county apparently!! It's unlikely that I will have all this sorted by the 3rd of February.

What do you suggest I do? I would have gotten the VIN sorted a lot sooner had I not been misinformed about the due date. Do I have to book an entirely new test? When I go to the NCT website and enter my reg number it doesnt even give me the option to re-book, as it says that it's only a visual retest that is required. Am I going to have to let my NCT go overdue?

Visual is free so rock up to centre and wait for a tester to come out with someone else's car after test and just call them they will come back to you then and look. You can then get cert off them if all checks out.

How bad was the corrosion? Take the rust off with a wire brush and bring it back?

The VIN should be in multiple places on the car. Couldn't you point out one of the other locations? All the NCT manual says is:
"The Vehicle Identification Number on the vehicle must correspond with the information on the Vehicle Registration File/Book/Licence Certificate. Where difficulty is encountered in locating the Vehicle Identification Number it is the responsibility of the applicant to establish the location of this information on the vehicle."
