Is the VRT calculator not working or just me?

I keep getting a time out message the last 2 days- asking me to log in to ROS (no thanks, you're grand).... somewhere in my meandering search for a car, I managed to work out that the VRT on a hybrid was only 1600 for the same make and model in diesel was nearly double. I just wanted to check if this was correct or if I had been dreaming (possible)

CO2 has some bearing on the VRT amount, so yeah it's possible alright

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,843 ✭✭✭tea and coffee

It seems to be only a %age or 2 though. From their chart it looks like 14% of OMSP for a hybrid and 16% for the diesel. And the Hybrid is dearer than the Diesel on the open market.

Are you able to get on to the calculator? I'm still not.

Is the motor check Vrt calculation accurate?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,360 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

It's an estimate. It can be correct but can also be + and -. It also doesn't take into account factory extras on premium brands.

Something obviously went pear shaped at the weekend during their maintenance window that service hasn't been restored two days into the working week.

Still getting the 'timed out' message. Typical. Just when I am genuinely searching for a Car......instead of just dreaming.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,360 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

    Nope. Still nothing.
It's like a Power Cut, and I'm the last in the country to be reconnected :).

this has to be a mistake on the site? 15% of 18000 euro is not €1500.
would thye honor the print out or would they calculate from scratch.

its less than half the vrt for a similar diesel :confused:

Google 'repayment or Remission of VRT for Hybrid'. Essentially an offset that gives the quoted figure.

The VRT is reduced by €1200 for a hybrid between 2-3 years old, so your 15% is 2709 and becomes just 1509 after the reduction.
