Hi, I bought a catering van late October. Good bit of rust on chassis. Guy confirmed that all equipment was working.
Took me a while to get the chassis fixed. Just realised half of equipment is not working. Had to withdraw all the inside shelves as I realised wood was rotten.
Brought it to DOE yesterday. I got a red sticker... 5 pages of problem. But the worst part, the guy confirned to me it's 3.5 tonnes. But empty the van is already 3.7 tonnes. They told me manufacturer plate was changed but now I need to get new plate form a main dealer, and C1 licence to drive. Is there anything I can do?
    Thanks

So even if you get the proper chassis plate you still don’t have a licence to drive it. I’d be bringing it back to where ever you bought it and demand a refund. You were clearly sold something that isn’t road worthy, cannot easily be made road worthy and then you need to spend a lot of money on driving lessons/tuition to get the necessary licence to drive it.

Was it a private sale in which case you'd have no comeback, if it was a dealer some good legal advice might be the best way forward.
