Given the price of straw the idea of using woodchip as bedding came up in my KT meeting last nite

Does anyone use this? Is it suitable for calves? What happens at the end of the spring, does it decompose easily? Suitable to be added to the dung pit?

The chips we were shown were quiet big, 1.5" in length and 3/4" diameter

    Thanks

I’d be interested in this too. Fellas I talk to who are using it are very happy with it. What I want to know is if you get freshly chipped green timber how do you dry it and how long will it take to dry?

Them calves are on it 7 weeks in the picture. And thats what it looks like new. Better job than straw or timber slats in my opinion

Is that green stuff (freshly chipped from green trees/branches etc) or is it chip from recycled pallets and did you get it dry or wet??
