Water build up in VW Golf 131

Noticed flooding in the back of my golf yesterday. Nothing spilt and no apparent leaks. Brought it to main VW dealer today and they hadn't seen anything like it. Earliest they can take me is 2 weeks tomorrow however. Said they would have to strip the car to source problem. Brought it to another garage who have done work for me and he hadn't seen anything like it either. Rang another main VW dealer and they hadn't seen anything like it either.

Picture doesn't do it justice. I scooped a load of water out of it last night and this evening but it just comes back. Not a huge problem at the moment but I'm just worried about mould and a smell, and basically ruining the inside of the car.

    Any help appreciated. Thanks

Either vent in the bottom of the door blocked or seal split at back of speaker most likely.

Yeah, I'd say the gasket around the speaker, I think that's a bit of an issue with Mk7 Golfs.

I'd get a loan of a wet vac if you can and suck that out. It will leave a dank smell :(

I heard about that speaker one too before i bought a 13 golf.thankfully not seen it yet.id try to shorten that 2 week wait if i could.this weather could leave inside in bad order in that time.there is another vw acknowledged problem with the mark 7 golf, water gathers inside fuel filler cap and doesnt drain properly.annoying that they havent done a simple recall on it.

Cheers lads. I'm in Drogheda but I'll be home to Galway at the weekend. I have it booked into a garage for Saturday morning for a quick check of tyres etc so hopefully he'll be able to do something then too.

I googled a bit and found similar cases alright thanks. It's mad that Western and the other place said they'd never seen it.

    Dehumidifier will help after wet-vac.

Could your rear window washer pipe have split, used to be a problem with older golfs? Check the tank in the engine and see if the rear washer works.

If it’s a131 it’s likely out if warranty so go outside the dealer network, quicker and cheaper.

Hadn't thought of the rear window wiper. Will check later. There's no leaking around the boot though and its just on the left hand side of the passenger seat's floor. Some build up of water this morning again. Trying to source a wet vacuum today.
Trying to avoid the dealer alright, it's just every garage I've tried is very backed up and busy.

Rear light clusters are another suspect, they are simple to remove (few screws) so if you are desperate and have time try removing them to see if they are letting water in.

Does that model Golf have the issue with blocking plenum drains?

We had a Passat which blocked and overflowed at the pollen filter and most of the water ended up in the back seat floor area.
