    Hi there,

I'm moving to Ulster in a few months.

I'm currently driving a 2011 VW Caddy with 135k on the odo.

Would it make more sense to sell it in the South and buy another one in the North with yellow reg or import the one I have ...?

    Anyone with similar esxperience?

    Are you moving permanently?
Do you plan to keep caddy there for several years?
Me, I'd bring it wit me. Do you know what you need in order to import it into UK?

That said, if you sell the current caddy here and move there for a long while you can buy another there and then import it free to the south.

If its going well and giving no problems I'd keep it ,unless you were planning on buying new you could ending up selling a good van and someones else's problem.

Yes ... and I'd like to change it to a non commercial eventually.

I must check how much it costs to import a commercial vehicle. I thought that for the price of my IRL reg sold here I could get a better vehicle in the UK. Even a smaller non commercial van but higher spec'ed and with the Miles dashboard as well.

I can keep it in the UK for a few months after I move if my insurance is happy with it ( I think... must check that too ).

You can drive as a tourist as far as UK authorities are concerned for a few months but if you use caddy for business use I don't know how it would go down with your southern insurer (check their T&C).

You will need to change the speedo to register in the North so probably easiest to sell down here, if you can.

Market is a bit flooded at the moment with that size van so pricing is great.

That means it would be a pain in the arse to sell too then ...
