Cockapoo sore back

    Hi all,

Hoping for a little guidance. Have a 3 y/o cockapoo. Hurt herself Tuesday night, and locum vet checked her out Wednesday AM. She'd been in a lot of pain, shaking. Given Rheumocam for next 2 weeks - strained back. Seems pain-free by majority since, except in morning and late evening. Slightly sore then. No xrays done.

She seems more sore tonight though after being too lively with her brother, and there's no immediate reply from vet. Could I give her a small dose of Rheumocam to help? I wonder should I be crating her to stop her jumping about?

    Thanks

I would definitely crate her for a few days to give her a chance to heal. Had to crate a dog for 8 weeks once for a back injury. Nip it in the bud and crate her now to avoid it getting worse.

Can't help you with your question about the medication, as I don't have a clue.

Maybe ask the vet about using an animal physio? They might be able to help with the pain more, and speed along recovery.

I would crate her too. Dogs don't understand that they're still injured. They feel less pain and work with that, which is why they so often reinjure themselves when on pain relief.

Thanks a mill guys. She seems fine today but I'll be keeping her crated for a while now.
