Dual source heater: no hot water

    Hey guys,

I am new to country, so this may be a very stupid question.
We have just moved into new apartment, radiators were barely warm, so landlord called for a plumber. He serviced gas heater, removed air locks and checked the whole system. Everything was all right for a day, but then wife and kids moved some stuff in the storage room where water cylinder is installed.. and in the morning we woke up to cold water out of both taps.

Checked things that they could touch during 'cleaning', the only thing that is close - thermostat on a cylinder (bottom part), it was set to 6 o'clock.

Changed to 50 degrees and in the few hours we got hot water again, but I am not sure that it is supposed to be like that. I deliberately want to use gas heating and not the electric one. So, did I fix it or it is supposed to be 'off' when gas heater is heating hot water?

Second question is BAXI gas heater, at the moment it should heat taps and radiator, but I have never seen it lighting up tap section. Is it all right?

Thanks for help. fellows, I asked landlord, but have no idea when he/plumber can reply and I am a bit worried.

Cylinder thermostat should be set to 60ºC, and yes you did the correct thing turning it up to get your gas boiler to heat the water.

On the Baxi (system) boilers, the 'TAP' function is usually not wired up, so just ignore it.

Thanks a mil! I assume, that pump noise when using hot tap is also ok? (starts when opened, stops when closed).

Yes the pump should only activate when you turn on taps or use the shower, otherwise it should stay off.
As DGOBS says, move the tank stat to 60 and it should be fine.
Maybe text the plumber to double check things with him and he can talk you through the settings for reassurance.
