VRT calculator - strange results

I've been checking VRT price of Honda CRV (II gen) which was manufactured between 2002-2006.

When I enter petrol model 2.0, VRT cost is the same - regardless of year.
So exactly same price for 2002 as for 2006.

There are slight variations in price depending on trim option (SE, EXECUTIVE, etc), but price doesnt seem to be affected at all by car age...

Is that a mistake or is it how it should be?

Are VRT calculator prices anyway binding?

From 12 or 13 years old upwards, the depreciation is at the maximum amount so VRT will remain the same. For that car, it will be the same for anything 2006 or older.

    No, that's not it.
Minimum value is afaik 2000 and car in question has value of about 2700

    Thanks for that tip vicadd.

I looked up VRT manual and it indeed seems to be the case.
    There is many depreciation classes like A1, A2, A3, B1, B2, C1, C2, G1, etc...
Table shows depreciation for each class, but in general exactly as you're saying vehicles above 12-13 years are in the lowest depreciation class, so VRT doesn't go down.

I assume for most vehicle that value is below minimum €2000 value, and attracts minimum VRT of correct percentrage (dependant od CO2) from €2000.

But in case of CRV I mentioned, it belongs to deprecation code of C2, and thus is depreciated at 94% at age of 12 (so 2006 currently), so any car older than 2006, will be worth exactly same.

I was asking mostly in relation to obtaining VRT refund, as VRT refund in not available for vehicles which would reach minimum value of below €2000 so it wouldn't be available for most cars, but looks like it is available for CRV or similar cars which after suffering maximum VRT depreciation for it's group, would still be worth above €2000.

    Thanks again for clarifying that.

    I have another related question.

As mentioned, VRT is calculated as percentage of "Current Open Market Selling Price".

And "Current Open Market Selling Price" is percentage of "Open Market Selling Price".

    F.e. 2007 Civic diesel.
    Open Market Selling Price: €22,572
Depreciation Table: A3 (so based on that table, as vehicle is 11 years old, depreciation is 87% which gives :
Current Open Market Selling Price €2,934
And as CO2 emissions are 139g/km then VRT rate is 19% so:
    VRT to pay: €557

Question is - what is actually "Open Market Selling Price".
Is this the price of vehicle when it was new?
Does that change in their calculations, or remain the same, so f.e. if I look there in 2 years, this 07 Civic's "Open Market Selling Price" will still be €22,572 ?

Does vehicle always stay in the same depreciation table, or is it being shifted between different tables overtime?

In short I would like to know, if VRT calculations for vehicle from the example give €557, will value be exactly the same in couple months f.e. June this year?

I know there are monthly adjustments, but they don't apply to vehicles over 10 years old.

    Thanks for any input.
